Areia | 8S Vintage Slub Workwear Trouser

345,00 €

The Areia (pronounced ah-ray-ah, the Portuguese word for sand) takes its name from the coarse, wind-blown beaches of Costa da Caparica. Cut from an 8S vintage slub workwear fabric, these trousers balance heavy-gauge utility with a refined, relaxed silhouette. Bench-made in Portugal by a single craftsman, they skip the oversized bagginess of old dungarees for a structural fit that holds up to daily wear, salt air, and constant motion. Built for men who care about thread weight, flat-felled seams, and real character over transient trends.

Bench-made entirely in Portugal for men who value uncompromising craftsmanship, structural integrity, and quality over loud logos. To maintain this level of detail, our atelier produces just 20 garments per month in total across all designs.

Description

Fit Notes

  • Fit: An Almost Straight Leg with a very subtle, sophisticated taper. This provides a clean line that avoids the bulk of vintage work pants while remaining functional for movement.
  • Rise: High rise waistband height that stays in place without pinching when sitting or working. Waistbands sit just on or below the belly button and rest on the smallest part of the waist.

  • Double knee: The front panels feature integrated knee pads, a nod to classic workshop attire that adds both structural durability and a distinct visual weight to the silhouette.
  • Belt loops: Oversized wide loops with a cotton cord inside to help with the fading and give extra structure to the loops itself.

Fabric & Trims

  • Provenance: Bench Made in Portugal (EU).

  • Interior Detail: Fully double-lined pocket bags. The inner lining is form a soft herringbone cotton and the outside lining is made form a 100% cotton floral linnen. The same as is used for the back pockets. The left pocket bag is silkscreened with a Caravel illustration by artist António Caramelo.

  • Back Pockets: Fully lined in floral linen, featuring clean single-needle stitching reinforced with our signature overrun X, alongside an asymmetrical, open mule-ear flap on the left to reveal the lining.
  • Keychain Loop: Above the left front pocket is a keychain loop with selvedge id
  • Construction: We use 20s/3 and 40s/2 cotton threads with a poly core. Flat-felled seams, corded belt loops, and a corded buttonhole built to withstand heavy daily wear.

  • Hardware: Finished with an ‘Ghost Patch’ on the outside of the waistband, YKK big zippers, custom hand-set S&O hardware and Chigago screws.

  • Aging: RAW indigo denim. As the fabric wears down through daily use, the slub texture and underlying rainbow weft become visible.

Lead Time & Production

  • Availability: Made entirely by a single maker. Builds are capped at just 20 garments per month in total across all designs. Lead time is 4 to 6 weeks from order to dispatch.

Denim | Care & Evolution

  • Wash: Wash inside out in a bathtub or on a delicate/slow spin cycle. Never tumble dry.

  • Temperature: Use cold or lukewarm water.

  • Drying: Line dry / hang dry away from direct heat or harsh sunlight.

  • Detergent: Use a mild indigo-safe or enzyme-based detergent. Avoid chlorine bleach, harsh chemical stain removers, and optical brighteners.

Note: Expect indigo bleeding—a signature mark RAW Denim.

Leather | Care & Evolution

  • Exposure: Avoid water; if wet, pat dry immediately.

  • Maintenance: Clean with a soft cloth; condition every 3–6 months.

  • Storage: Keep away from direct sunlight and heat. Store in a cool, dry place.

  • Hardware: Wipe regularly to maintain shine. Minor scratches add character.
