STILL HAVE QUESTIONS?
We collaborate with small ateliers and independent artisans, selecting only the finest materials for each piece.
Our T-shirts are crafted from Giza 87 Egyptian cotton, in either Jersey or Interlock, while our denim is sourced from Japan, Italy, and Portugal. Belts and accessories use full-grain leather sourced from the Netherlands.
For construction, we use 20s/3 core-spun polyester thread for topstitching and 40s/2 for all other seams. This specialized thread is stronger, smoother, and more durable than standard sewing thread, ensuring your garments withstand daily wear while keeping seams neat and long-lasting.
We prioritize natural fibers and premium materials in every piece.
Every pair of our denim is made by a single person. One skilled maker takes it from pattern to final stitch, overseeing every detail along the way. This is one-man made or bench-made denim, built in Portugal, renowned for its exceptional clothing craftsmanship. Every garment reflects precision, durability, and character, created entirely by one pair of hands.
Every garment includes a Certificate of Provenance, hand-signed and digitally recorded, documenting its origin, craftsmanship, and authenticity.
Adopted from the art-world a COA is handwritten and signed by the maker of the piece. As it’s very hard to imitate handwriting. The COA or in our case, Certificate of Provenance gets a unique number corresponding with our digital ledger.
Digital Ledger
Each piece includes a discreet RFID chip, which you can scan with your phone to access its authentication page. There, you’ll see the unique number of your piece and other details verifying its origin and craftsmanship. This is purely for proving authenticity—the chip does not track your location or collect personal information. If someone tries to use a fake code, the page will clearly indicate that the item cannot be validated as authentic.
All product pages include detailed size charts in a seperate tab and reference images showing the fit on a model. For example, the model is 180 cm tall, weighs 78 kg, and wears a size M, helping you select the perfect fit.
To help you more with a correct size we made this measuring guide to help.
We have two distinct collections:
SAL & OURO | Atelier Series
The Atelier Series is our core line, where every piece is shaped and perfected by hand. Jeans, jackets, trousers, belts, and small leather goods are crafted for durability, versatility, and timeless style. Each item is made by a single artisan in Portugal, with careful attention to every seam, stitch, and detail. Subtle variations—like pocket styles or hardware—ensure each piece is unique while maintaining a consistent signature. This collection celebrates mastery, repetition, and the quiet perfection of skilled hands.
SAL & OURO | Perpetual Collection
The Perpetual Collection is where inspiration meets experimentation, creating one-of-a-kind pieces that often take 30+ hours to complete. Drawing from history, art, and unexpected life moments, each item is unique, from garments to bags, and never produced in more than a handful of examples. Only the finest materials are used, and every detail is carefully crafted by hand. Many pieces are exclusive to returning customers, making them rare and highly collectible. This collection embodies the artistic, experimental spirit of Sal & Ouro.
Every garment includes a Certificate of Provenance, hand-signed and digitally recorded, documenting its origin, craftsmanship, and authenticity.
Each piece is made handmade skilled craftsmen. While we usually keep a few items in stock, additional production may take time because we do not mass-produce.
Materials are sourced around the world. Often these materials are produced in small batches by artisan mills and production houses, which can occasionally result in a short wait. It’s also possible a fabric is not produced anymore.
Orders are processed until Friday at 2:00 pm (14.00). Normally, preparation takes one day, and shipping 1–3 days.
However if a product is not in stock (backorder) that means we need to make your item by hand. Most of the time this can take between 2 and 8 weeks.
Our pieces are made from natural materials with care. We recommend hand washing inside out. Avoiding the dryer, and hanging to air dry. Use mild detergent and avoid fabric softeners. Sal & Ouro is for men who thoughtfully curate their wardrobe, and the same care applies to maintaining their pieces.
Gently brush leather and wipe it with a damp cloth. Once dry, apply leather conditioner to keep it supple and long-lasting. See our specialist care products for suggestions.
We accept standard credit card payments, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Occasionally, we offer additional local payment options depending on the shipping country.
We avoid the “sustainable” label because every garment has an impact.
Instead, we focus on Ethical Craftsmanship: working only with selected partners to ensure no sweatshops and no shortcuts. We take Full Lifecycle Responsibility, offering repairs and a secondary market for our pieces. Plus, 2% of every purchase is invested directly into reforestation and researching smarter ways to work.
All our clothing is made in Europe, in Portugal, by hand. By keeping production small-scale and focused on quality over quantity, we can ensure every piece is made with care and respect.

“Feels good, looks good.”
I picked up a t-shirt without expecting much, but it surprised me. The fit is easy, the fabric feels really good. I need to buy another one I want to wear this wy too often.
– Daniel, 35

“Great Customer Service.”
I wanted to buy my first pair of selvedge jeans and, despite the FAQs, still had a few questions. They helped me out quickly, and it was refreshing how fast I could talk to a real person.
